Het nieuws was natuurlijk al langer bekend dat Disney maar liefst 4 miljard (4.000.000.000) neertelde voor Marvel, maar door de gecompliceerde legale procedures duurde het iets meer dan een half jaar om de deal rond te krijgen. Op filmgebied gaat er in ieder geval de eerste jaren weinig veranderen want studio's zoals FOX, SONY en Universal hebben natuurlijk een contract dat ze nog ettelijke jaren de filmrechten van de personages geeft.
Er zijn natuurlijk wel andere gevolgen voor deze overname. Zo heb je veel pretparken waar Marvel Comics' superhelden aan bepaalde attracties worden gelinkt (bv Universal Studios Florida's Island of Adventure). Binnen een bepaalde tijd zullen deze figuren moeten verdwijnen en ik kan je op een blaadje geven dat je binnen enkele jaren Spider-Man zal zien opduiken in Disneyland…
Een ander gevolg is natuurlijk dat Disney tegenwoordig op digitale televisie een eigen kanaal heeft en dat je dus vanaf nu nog weinig nieuws zal zien van Marvel op zenders als Cartoon Network of andere cartoon-zenders.
Om af te sluiten deel ik je toch nog eens graag het prijskaartje mee dat aan Marvel hing, toen Disney besloot een cheque te schrijven… 4.000.000.000. Ik denk dat Mickey daarvoor toch ook de spaarpot van zijn vriendjes heeft moeten openbreken….
