[ANIMATIE] Fox vernieuwt contract voor 'The Simpsons' dan toch voor 2 jaar

Na enkele weken onderhandelingen tussen acteurs en producer 20the Century Fox, zijn beide partijen toch tot een overeenkomst gekomen. The Simpsons, de langstlopende animatieserie aller tijden, krijgen van Fox een vernieuwd contract van 2 jaar en er zullen dus met andere woorden nog twee nieuwe seizoenen van het gele gezin verschijnen.

45% Loon inleveren

Even leek het erop alsof het licht uitging bij 'The Simpsons' wanneer producer Fox de serie wou stopzetten omdat ze te duur was. De serie ging namelijk al 23 seizoenen mee en telkens kregen de acteurs die hun stem leenden aan de belangrijkste personages een loonsverhoging. Iets wat niet langer kon, vonden ze bij Fox. De studio maakte na veel tegenwind een paar keer een aanbod voor een loonsverlaging en sloot vorige week af met een 'final offer' van een 45% loonsverlaging voor de acteurs. Dat kan misschien wel enorm onmenselijk lijken op het loon van jou en mij maar wanneer je de bedragen bekijkt waar het hier over gaat, kan je nog wel best begrip tonen denk ik. Zo kregen Dan Castellaneta (Homer, Grampa Simpson, Krusty the Clown, ...), Julie Kavner (Marge...), Nancy Cartwright (Bart...), Yeardley Smith (Lisa), Hank Azaria (Moe Szyslak, Chief Wiggum en Apu Nahasapeemapetilon), en Harry Shearer (Mr. Burns, Principal Skinner, Ned Flanders, ...) $440.000 per aflevering en dus iets van een 8 miljoen dollar voor een seizoentje Simpsons...
Volgens de acteurs zelf was er trouwens geen vuiltje aan de lucht; hun loon was immers maar een fractie wat eigenlijk verdiend werd aan merchandising van The Simpsons.

Het persbericht van Fox

In het persbericht van de uiteindelijke overeenkomst dat vorige week vrijdag nog werd bevestigd wordt helaas dit percentage niet meer herhaald en er wordt gefluisterd dat de acteurs toch 'maar' een loonsverlaging kregen van om en bij de 30%. Het lijkt er dus op dat de wereld van The Simpsons nog een tijdje zal blijven bestaan. Het volgende seizoen zal terug starten op 30 oktober met, naar goede gewoonte, een Threehouse Of Horrors - aflevering. Meer daarover lees je hieronder in het officiële persbericht.

FOX has renewed THE SIMPSONS, the longest-running comedy in television history, for an incredible 24th and 25th season, bringing the series total to an astonishing 559 episodes.

Matt Groening created the iconic family: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. In February 2012, THE SIMPSONS will celebrate its historic 500th episode. The series has won 27 Emmy Awards, been the subject of a hit feature film, created “Krustyland” and a revolutionary virtual coaster – The Simpsons Ride – at Universal Studios, received a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame, been honored with five U.S. postal stamps personally designed by Matt Groening, and named the “Best Show of the 20th Century” by Time Magazine.

Following the MLB American League Championship Series and World Series games on FOX, THE SIMPSONS returns with all-new episodes beginning with “Treehouse of Horrors XXII,” on Sunday, Oct. 30 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT). In the spooky opener, Homer takes a dangerous dive into an isolated canyon on Candy Peak, but when a crashing boulder traps his arm, he channels Aron Ralston (guest voicing as himself) to save himself. In “The Diving Bell and Butterball,” the first of three hair-raising Halloween tales, a venomous spider bite leaves Homer paralyzed, but when Lisa discovers Homer’s ability to communicate through natural gases, he is able to express his love for Marge. The killer spells continue in “Dial D for Diddly,” when Ned Flanders, devout preacher by day, transforms into a cold-blooded vigilante by night. In the final terrifying tale, “In the Na’Vi,” Bart and Milhouse are assigned on a mission to access a sacred extract on a distant planet. They morph into the land’s indigenous one-eyed avatars, but when Bart finds love and an eternal mate abroad, he is caught in planet warfare.
