LionsGate Studio is niet helemaal terug te vinden in mijn top 5 (of top 10) wanneer ik een lijstje zou maken van animatiestudio's. Toch proberen ze samen met nieuwkomer Crest Animation Productions een blijvende indruk na te laten met een nieuwe animatiefilm: Alpha & Omega.
Of dit zal lukken is nog een heel andere vraag...
Kate (Hayden Panettiere) en Humphrey (Justin Long) zijn twee jongen wolven die gevangen worden door parkwachters en ver van hun echte roedel los worden gelaten. Eén groot probleem: ze kunnen elkaar niet luchten. Zij is een wolvin van principes (als zoiets al bestaat) en hij is eerder een nietsnut-type wolf. In hun vroegere roedel heerste een duidelijke hiërarchie, maar alleen in de wildernis kunnen en moeten ze op elkaar rekenen.
Een flinterdun cheesy verhaaltje dus al je't mij vraagt, waar natuurlijk de voorspelbare 'romantiek' en 'spanning' zal in terug te vinden zijn.
De cast bestaat uit Christina Ricci, Danny Glover, Dennis Hopper, en Larry Miller. De film zelf werd geregisseerd door Anthony Bell and Ben Gluck. Bell kenen we ondermeer van zijn geregisseerde films Duckman en de Rugrats, terwijl Gluck Disney’s Brother Bear 2 op zijn cv heeft staan.
Alpha and Omega verschijnt in België in oktober 2010 en in Nederland in november 2010 in de bioscoop.
