We zijn het er niet helemaal mee eens, maar Pixar's laatste, Cars 2, is niet onverdeeld enthousiast onthaald door de critici. Maar dat laat John Lasseter, regisseur van de film, niet aan z'n hart komen.
Gisterenavond werd Cars 2 pas gereleased in Frankrijk, en daarvoor kwam de grote man van Disney én Pixar hoogstpersoonlijk naar de hoofdstad om 'zijn' film te promoten. Dankzij Alain van Disney and more kon ook CGtopia erbij zijn.
Onze video is geen groot meesterwerk, maar het geluid is het enige wat telt. Want zelfs al krijgt Lasseter een lastige vraag te verwerken (hoe gaat hij om met de harde kritiek op Cars 2), blijft de man erg innemend, en geeft hij - een tikkeltje aarzelend - een erg sportief antwoord. "I don't make movies for filmcritics." Waarop een luid applaus weerklinkt.
De presentatie, met telkens een Franse vertaling, duurde zo'n 15 minuten. Hier kan je de ganse uiteenzetting horen.
Leuk detail, Lasseter maakte gisteren ook tijd om even langs Disneyland Paris te passeren. Logisch, want de man is sinds kort ook gepromoveerd tot Principal Creative Advisor van Walt Disney Imagineering, de ontwerp- en ontwikkelingstak van de Walt Disney Company. Volgens DLRPtoday ging hij kijken op de plek in de Walt Disney Studios waar binnenkort misschien een unieke dark ride rond Ratatouille komt. Meer over deze attractie kon je al lezen op CGtopia.
