Het was misschien niet meteen de meest spannende categorie van de Academy Awards 2011, maar Pixar deed het toch weer een vierde keer op een rij!
Vorige nacht (van zondag op maandag) won 'Toy Story 3' de Oscar voor 'best animated feature' en haalde het daarin tegen Dreamworks 'How To Train Your Dragon' en de Brits-Franse coproductie 'The Illusionist'.
Het was regisseur Lee Unkrich die de Oscar in ontvangst nam. Hij sprak daarbij de woorden: "Thank you to audiences all over the world who came out in historic numbers, and embraced a movie about talking toys that hopefully had something very human to say."
Vier keer op een rij
Pixar mocht ook vorig jaar een beeldje gaan ophalen voor de film 'Up', in 2009 voor 'Wall-E' en in 2008 met 'Ratatouille'. Het won ook in 2004 en 2005 met respectievelijk 'Finding Nemo' en 'The Incredibles'. De animated feature award werd trouwens het eerst uitgereikt in 2002, zes jaar nadat John Lasseter, grote baas bij Pixar, een speciale Oscar voor de eerste 'Toy Story' film.
Niet één maar twee Oscars
Pixar ging trouwens naar huis met nog een Oscar; Toy Story 3 won namelijk een tweede Oscar voor best original song, met de het lied 'We Belong Together' van Randy Newman. Omdat we niet eindeloos dezelfde trailer kunnen herposten, dachten we dat het misschien beter was hieronder af te sluiten met dit winnende Toy-Story-lied!
