Na de traditie bij Pixar heeft men ook bij Walt Disney Animation Studios de smaak te pakken om voor hun bioscoopfilms een kortfilm te voorzien. Voor het in november te verschijnen Wreck-It Ralph komt Paperman, een filmpje in minimalistische z/w-stijl.
Paperman wordt geregisseerd door John Kahrs en Kristina Reed, en gaat over een jongeman die in de jaren 50 in New York belandt. Hij wordt verliefd op een vrouw die hij toevallig ontmoet. Wanneer hij merkt dat ze in de wolkenkrabber naast zijn werkplek werkt, probeert hij zijn geluk zelf in handen te nemen.
Mensen die het filmpje al hebben gezien, zijn onverdeeld lovend. Vooral de unieke combinatie van klassieke animatie en computer graphics is in deze tijden verrassend. Nog heel even wachten op het resultaat, want de enige beelden die ons al hebben bereikt zijn deze stills en deze 'Paperclips' ofte making-of filmpjes.
