Wanneer je een animatiefilm bekijkt, vergeet je dikwijls dat de acteurs achter de personages zich ook moeten inleven in hun rol. Maar hoe weten de acteurs nu het gevoel van hun personages in hun stem terug te brengen, probeerden ze maar wat tot alles op zijn plaat viel?
Dit probleem viel ook voor in de hoogdagen van de Disney tekenfilms. Walt Disney was absoluut geen fan van acteurs die 'gewoon een stemmetje kwamen doen', dus werkte hij een soort van planning uit die omgekeerd werkte: Eerst speelden de acteurs de scène echt na, waarna vervolgens de tekenaars zich moesten inleven in het verhaal en de correcte getekende scène creëren die bij de stemmen hoorden! Absurd maar geniaal tegelijk!
